Emergencies

Our clinic sees patients by appointment only.

If you are an established client and are experiencing a medical emergency during office hours, if possible, please call us first to let us know what is happening. We may have you speak to a certified technician or doctor to determine whether your pet needs to be seen. If your pet needs to be seen the same day, we will try to work your pet into an open appointment slot, if that is possible.

If the case is more urgent, we may ask you to drop your pet off so we can start working on his or her care immediately. The doctor would then call you once they have had a chance to look at your pet to discuss diagnostics and treatment plans. You may be asked to come in later in the day to actually visit with the doctor about our findings so we can speak face to face.

In the case of a critical emergency during office hours, you may just head to the hospital with your pet, but if possible call us when you are on your way so can get things set up for emergency care and CPR if needed. These cases are triaged as soon as they enter the building while patients with scheduled appointments will be placed on hold until the pet is stabilized.

Please understand that if your pet needs to be seen as a work-in emergency when there are no open appointments on the schedule, that there may be a wait for you to be seen, and that this affects all of the clients who have scheduled appointments because we will be running behind on our appointment schedule. We appreciate your patience when this occurs. It often means re-arranging the schedule, and having doctors and staff work overtime to see your emergency along with all their regularly scheduled appointments. For this reason, an emergency fee will be assessed for any appointments that must be seen that same day but there are no available appointments on the schedule.

In the case of an after-hours emergency, one of our doctors is available by phone until 10 pm Monday – Saturday, and from 9 am – 10 pm on Sunday, by calling the clinic number 503-682-3737, and then pressing zero. Leave your name and phone number and the nature of the emergency at the tone and the doctor on call will get back to you shortly.
